Guitar Lessons

I'm a self-taught guitarist, starting with a cheap guitar from K-mart (similar to "3" in the picture),

and a Mel Bay Chord Book.

True Fact:

There really was a Melbourne Bay, here he is in 1928.  His books probably have been used by almost everyone who's ever picked up a guitar.

So, I had my first and only guitar lesson with Waylon Bugtong.  Here's a picture of him with his guitar.

Waylon liked to perform Barry Manilow songs in the style of Devo.  I was pretty young and not experienced in such things, but when he played "Mandy" it seemed like he might be having a "spell" as Grandma would call it.

I didn't learn anything about the guitar from Waylon, but I did learn that even the strongest of  mints can't overcome breath so bad that it would shock a buzzard off a gut wagon.
